Volunteer in Middle School? YES!!
Studies have shown that children do better in school when their parents and community members are involved; active family and community involvement plays a vital role in student success. It’s a win for all since volunteers gain valuable experience and personal contacts, make new friends, develop new skills while enriching the lives of our Peasley students. Volunteering gives you an opportunity to form a community that reflects characteristics important to us all: dedicated teachers, curious students and supportive and involved families.
Anyone can be a volunteer: parents, grandparents and other family members; retirees; business and professional people, and college, high and middle school students. All it takes is a genuine interest in helping children.
We do require that all potential volunteers have a criminal history background check and attend a volunteer orientation, which can be scheduled with the Community Engagement Coordinator.
Coordinator Information
The Community Engagement Coordinator assists school staff in identifying, scheduling, and coordinating a variety of guest speakers and outreaches which are often inexpensive resources, which do not take students out of the classroom. Guest speakers, and outreaches are great ways for community members to become involved.
The Gloucester Department of Community Engagement provides a variety of programs and services to meet the needs of the community and schools.

Let's do Lunch! Be a Mentor
Did you know that 30 minutes a week with a child can make a significant difference in his or her life? Children sometimes need an adult role model who can give them the undivided attention all children crave. Mentors do just that when they eat with a child once a week to share food, fun and fellowship.
Mentors are ordinary every day adults who are ready to do the extraordinary. They are business people, government employees, community activists, college students, retirees, and private citizens. Mentors believe in young people and know they need everyday heroes that they can see in person and discuss their lives with.
Do you want to make a difference in the life of a child? Do you want a chance to change the future? Become a mentor today and see why lunch may become the most important and rewarding meal of your day!
