April Showers have certainly brought us beautiful May Flowers!

Happy Spring to our Peasley Families,

Please take a moment or two to reach out to our teachers at Peasley Middle School this week in honor of Teacher Appreciation Week. Our teachers strive to provide each student with a quality educational experience. Our PTA is recognizing our teachers this week by providing some delicious breakfast foods, snacks and plants for their Spring enjoyment. Thank you to our PTA! We also have donations from Miller's Services and Ruby Tuesdays to distribute to our teachers. Thank you to those community sponsors!

We have several other announcements and reminders to share:

1. Yearbook orders are still being taken at yearbookforever.com. Yearbooks cost $35.00. Be sure to buy your memories today in order to cherish them tomorrow!

2. Our 8th grade promotion ceremony will take place, Thursday, June 8th at 6pm. Your student's teacher has sent home an informational sheet regarding this event. Our PTA will be providing refreshments and an opportunity for family pictures after the promotion ceremony.

3. Our school Carnival will take place on June 9th for all students. We are in need of volunteers to work at the various stations inside and outside. Please contact Linda Buswell at [email protected] if you are interested in assisting us on this fun-filled day. We are very appreciative of our PTA who will provide some of the inflatables, raffle prizes, misting station, photo booth, Kona Ice and more! We will be posting a wish list through Amazon to build up our raffle prizes on this day!

4. We ask that students only bring water to drink or in their water bottles each day to school. We ask that students not bring in hot drinks or specialty drinks of any kind to drink during the school day.

5. Upcoming PTA Events: Thank you to those who came out and supported the PTA at Little Italy last week! The PTA will host another spirit night at Duke's Deli on June 7th from 5-8pm. The next General Meeting will be held on May 25th. Voting will occur for the 2023-2024 school year's board members.

6. Congratulations to Mr. Thomas Hendrickson for being chosen by his colleagues as Peasley Middle School's Teacher of the Year!

7. Spring Band Concert will be held on May 16th at 7pm in the Peasley Auditorium.

8. Spring Chorus Concert will be held on June 1st at 6:30 in the Peasley Auditorium.

9. The National Junior Honor Society will have its annual induction ceremony on June 5th at 6:30pm.

10. There are a few reminders regarding Spring apparel. Students should be mindful of the length of their shorts, crop tops that bear the mid drift, hats should not be worn in the building and please, no pajama pants. As staff recognize concerns about the dress code of a student, they are asked to present the concern to administration so that admin can discuss with your student. The student Code of Conduct shares our Dress Code Policy on page 6.  Also, as a reminder, all cell phones should be off and inside your student's bookbag, not in their pockets or on their person. We appreciate your support with each of these items mentioned!

11. Final preparations are under way for our students to be administered our annual SOL assessments. The schedule will be as follows: May 22nd, Reading 6-8May 24th, Math 6-8May 26th Science (8th grade); May 31st Civics (8th grade). It is imperative that students get a good night's rest and a balanced breakfast the day of testing. Please postpone any appointments on these mornings if your student is scheduled to take a test. Any student who is absent will make up their test the day in which they return.

12. Information regarding summer school will be coming home to parents soon. Summer School will be held at Page Middle School for all rising 7th and 8th graders. The program will be from June 26th-July 27th, Monday-Thursday, by invitation only.

13. Students have submitted their electives request forms to the 2023-2024 school year. If you have any questions regarding those choices, please contact Mrs. Elaine Haislip, School Counselor.

14. Last day of school, full day, will be June 9th. School is closed on Memorial Day, May 29th.

We have many exciting events and activities coming up in the next few weeks of school! You can always see the many fun filled things going on at Peasley either on the website, Peasley's Facebook Page or the Peasley PTA's Facebook Page. Working together, between home and school, we will draw a close to this school year very successfully! As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to any of your student's teachers or an administrator, Ms. Balderson, Ms. Merritt or Mrs. Auche.

Sincerely,

Peasley Administration
