We want to wish each of you a safe, joyous and healthy holiday season! Our last day of school for 2023 will be Tuesday, December 19th. Students and staff will return on Tuesday, January 2nd, 2024! We welcome each and everyone back after having the opportunity to refresh and renew in preparation for the end of the 2nd quarter and soon to begin the 2nd semester of the 2023-2024 school year.
Students are expected to leave their chromebooks at school on Tuesday, Dec. 19th as they leave for the holidays. We want everyone to disconnect and allow time to refresh and renew as mentioned previously. Students will be leaving their chromebooks on a cart in their homerooms to charge and “rest” during the break. It is important that they leave the entire contents – chromebook, bag and charger before leaving on Tuesday, Dec. 19th.
January has many dates that need to be noted on your calendars:
Jan. 4-5 STAR testing for all students (info will be sent home to families with results concerning your student’s growth and performance)
Jan. 15th School is closed for the Martin Luther King Holiday
Jan. 17-18 Winter Growth Assessments take place per Virginia Department of Education
Jan. 19th is the last day of Quarter 2; Early Dismissal Day, 12:20 for middle schools
Jan. 22-23 School is closed for students; Teacher Professional Development Days
Jan. 24th First day of the 3rd Quarter and 2nd Semester begins
Thank you to our PTA for hosting our Hot Cocoa and Cookies event on Tuesday, Dec. 19th for all students and staff. This is our 3rd annual event hosted by the PTA. Our office is currently filling with the aroma of freshly baked cookies! Thank you to the many families who have either donated cookies for this event and/or their time volunteering for this event to take place.
Our PTA is hosting a Spirit Night at Duke’s Deli on Thursday, Jan. 11th. We hope many families can come out and support our PTA! Our PTA is also hosting their annual Glow Dance for our 6th grade students. Supplies, materials and volunteers are still being accepted for this event! Please see the Peasley PTA Facebook page for additional information. It also isn’t too late to still join and become a member of our Peasley PTA. The next Board meeting and General meeting will take place on Jan. 4th.
We have a couple of home basketball games to come in January! Peasley vs. Page on Jan. 8th and Peasley vs. James Blair on Jan. 10th. Students should not be dropped off to attend games. Students must be chaperoned by an adult, over the age of 18. Students will be asked when entering the doors, where is your chaperone?
So many exciting events and activities to plan for in the new year! Please encourage, as always, for your student to make learning a priority when they return on Tuesday, January 2nd. We wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Joyous New Year!
