Peasley Pride Updates

Peasley Community,

This is Ms. Balderson, your Peasley Principal. I hope this message finds you well and warm!  We are excited to have our students back in the building tomorrow after another short break at the end of the 2nd quarter/1st semester. The new, 3rd quarter begins on Wednesday. I wanted to reach out to each of you and update you on our most recent situation in our restrooms here at Peasley. Please know that we are actively revisiting the timeline of this event and determining through a thorough investigation, the perpetrator responsible for the messaging in our boy's bathroom. We intend to have meetings with each grade level, individually, tomorrow, when students return. During these meetings, we will discuss our schoolwide expectations as well as our core values, to include inclusivity for ALL students. We value what each individual student brings to our community and will continue to foster a community of emotional and social wellness, critical thinkers, all while embracing diversity! We stress kindness in our building and model this through our actions and words each day.

Since we will be having grade level meetings with students tomorrow morning, our Winter Growth Assessment for Reading will be postponed to Thursday, January 25th. All students will test on Thursday or attend a make up test session on Friday or next week. Students will continue to keep their chromebooks at school tomorrow evening to ensure that they have them at school, fully charged and updated for Thursday's test.

Lastly, our 6th grade Glow Party is being hosted by our PTA this Saturday from 6:30-8:00pm. Only Peasley 6th graders are permitted to attend. Students will be asked to walk through our metal detection system when arriving for this event. Please no backpacks or purses, if not necessary.

Thank you for your continued support while we navigate through the unfortunate sequence of events in our restrooms! We will keep you updated and informed with any additional information, as we are able to, in unison with the Gloucester County Sheriff's Office and our Superintendent, Dr. Vladu. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the school administration. We ask that you encourage your student to always, if they "see something, say something!" And if they "hear something, say something." Together, we will show our true, core values and pride that we carry with us each day at Peasley Middle School. Have a wonderful remainder of your evening and we will see all of students bright and early tomorrow morning.

Sincerely,

Cathy Balderson

Principal
