Good Evening Peasley Families,
It is Groundhog day and Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow! We hope to be enjoying some spring like weather soon! Last week, we conducted assemblies with our students to discuss our school and classroom expectations. Our students were so well behaved during these assemblies. We are very proud of what a great audience they were during these assemblies! As a school, we continue to embrace diversity and recognize each other's differences, respectfully. We also reminded our students of our Mission statement: Peasley Middle School strives for all students to succeed within a strong community of educators and learners who are dedicated to creating an environment embracing diversity, emotional and social wellness, critical thinking, and learning creatively while Recognizing One Another Respectfully (ROAR).
Report cards are now accessible online by visiting the parent portal. If you have not had a chance to enter an email address into Powerschool, please do so. Once your email is entered, you will not only receive these messages but any division notices, such as report card distribution, and access information to the Virginia Assessment Parent Portal. The Virginia Assessment Parent Portal allows you to access your student’s statewide testing scores for this year’s Fall Growth Assessments (FGA) and Winter Growth Assessments (WGA). Please note that the FGA measured the previous year’s grade-level standards; whereas, the WGA assessed current grade-level standards. STAR winter screening data will also be sent home next week. If you should have questions regarding any one of these assessments, please contact your student's reading or math teacher, or an administrator.
Please discuss with your student the importance of appropriate care and responsibility for your student's chromebook. Students should bring their chromebook to school every day, fully charged, in it's case, along with the charger. Loaners in the library are solely for students who currently have a damaged chromebook. Encourage your student to pack up his or her, charged chromebook each night when preparing for school. Many teachers utilize the chromebooks periodically throughout the day. It is imperative that our students come to school fully prepared with all the necessary supplies, to include the chromebook. Thank you for your support in making sure the chromebooks are also utilized appropriately at home.
The Peasley PTA is excited to kick off their "Pick a Date to Donate" - February Fundraiser. Your student should have received a flyer to bring home earlier this week, with all of the details about the fundraiser. If they do not have one, a digital copy can be found by visiting the Peasley PTA Facebook page or the PTA page on the Peasley Middle School's website. The Fundraiser will run for three weeks during the month of February and conclude on February 23rd. PTA Board members will be at school in the library on the mornings of February 22nd and 23rd from 7:20 to 7:40 am for students and/or parents to turn in their forms and money. Only cash or check payments will be accepted. Checks can be made out to the Peasley Middle School PTA. We recognize that this fundraiser requires the involvement of each student's parent or guardian to help collect the donations, so the PTA would like to thank you in advance for your extra support! Your PTA appreciates your support in making this fundraiser a success and looks forward to providing additional incentives for Peasley students as well as support for Peasley faculty and staff.
