Good Evening Peasley Pride!
We are very proud of our students today as we began our spring testing season with our Reading SOL! On Thursday, May 23rd, grades 6-8 will be taking their Math SOL. Then on Friday, May 24th, our 8th graders will be taking their Science SOL. Lastly, on Wednesday, May 29th, our 8th graders will take their Civics SOL. If students are absent, they will make up their SOL test upon return. Those students scoring between 375-399 will be eligible to take an Expedited Retake once remediation has taken place. If your student qualifies for an Expedited Retake, you will be contacted by the school to gain permission for your student to retake that particular SOL test. Please see the attached SOL schedule to include the Expedited Retakes. Parents will receive an email in the weeks to come reminding you of your access to the Parent Portal. Through this portal, you will be able to view your student's SOL scores and eventually, the final report card. We will also be mailing home a copy of your student's report card later in June.
We would like to thank our PTA for all the fun and exciting events hosted this year! Recently, an Aloha dance, which was well attended, was held and the students had an enjoyable time. This Thursday, the PTA will host their final spirit night at Duke's Deli from 5-8pm. Our PTA has gifted Peasley Middle School with the beautiful picnic table that sits in front of our school. Students and staff have already begun to take advantage of its use on these bright and sunny days. The PTA is also helping to fund our Carnival on June 6th. The PTA has scheduled for Kona Ice to return and plan to have 4 inflatables for the students to enjoy. Mrs. Buswell, our Community Engagement Coordinator is looking for volunteers to assist with this day's events. She can be reached at 804-693-1254. The next PTA board meeting will be held on May 30th to follow with a general meeting to vote on our new board for next year.
8th grade promotion ceremony will be held on June 5th at 6pm. We ask that parents of our 8th graders send a baby photo to [email protected] so that your student will have a "then" photo in the slideshow. All students will have a now photo in the slide show as well. Please be sure to send in your student's RSVP for the promotion ceremony by Friday, May 24th. Tickets will be distributed to you based on the number of guests recorded on the RSVP, maximum of five per student. Our PTA plans to hire a photographer and videographer for this event. More information regarding that is to come.
This Thursday, at 7pm, there will be a choir concert held in our school's Auditorium. Swing by and enjoy the harmonies of our Peasley Pride and Pridelands!
Chromebooks will begin to be collected for summer cleaning on Thursday, May 30th with our 8th graders, May 31st for 6th grade and June 3rd for 7th grade. Please be sure your student has the chromebook, bag and charger to turn in. The numbers and tags for all three items should match. We appreciate your support in the care and responsibility your student has had with our chromebooks over the course of the school year.
The last day of school is quickly approaching! The last day is June 6th and this is an early dismissal day at 12:20pm. Please remind your student that our expectations remain high as we wind down the school year. We want everyone's summer to begin as enjoyable as possible!
